Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Review – New 120X Ultra Savage!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the latest flagship offering from Xiaomi. Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with 120Hz Display, 120W super-fast charging, and 120X Zoom feature which made us call Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra as the 120X ultra Savage phone! But what it’s like to really use this phone? Read our review to find out!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with a 6.67” curved OLED display with a 120Hz high refresh rate panel! This panel is perfectly curved (nothing too high for accidental touches) and looks gorgeous to my eyes! This is the best panel I have ever seen on a phone next only to the Samsung flagship phones! It can show 1.07 billion vivid colors that are just a treat to your eyes! It comes with 800 nits of brightness on average and 1120 nits of peak brightness! It has got a 240Hz touch sampling rate for all your extra gaming needs!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset starting from 8 to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 to 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage which all are the flagship components that are used! To keep the beast calm and running we have a Liquid cooling system built-in along with 6 Graphite layers and Graphene and it shows up in benchmark as well as on a day to day usage!

On AnTuTu Benchmark it scored 660,000 points highest for any smartphone in the world! On a day to day usage, u will notice no lags at all and can multitask butter smooth and run any game thrown at it at its highest settings! It’s topped by an artistic MIUI 12 that gives beautiful animations for every task that you make! Overall this is the best performance on any phone to date.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with a Primary 48MP Sony IMX 586 camera sensor (1/1.32-inch Quad-Bayer sensor, a 25mm-equivalent lens with f/1.85 aperture, PDAF, and OIS) compared to Mi 10’s 108 MP camera this one looks like a downgrade! But honestly, this is a much better camera than that! The reason being that it’s fitted on a large Quad-Bayer sensor with a very wide aperture! It takes some of the best shots in mobile photography equivalent to pixel and Samsung in daylight as well as poor lighting conditions! The dynamic range is excellent, colors are accurate and ample amount of details are found in shots!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with a dual Telephoto lens! The first telephoto lens is a 120X Zoom lens which is one of the main highlights of the camera! It’s the same 48MP Sony IMX 586 camera sensor ( 1/2-inch Quad Bayer sensor, a 120mm-equivalent lens with f/4.1 aperture, PDAF, and OIS). It comes with a 5x optical zoom and 120X hybrid zoom! The zoom quality is excellent and its found that it does better than the 100X zoom offering from Samsung galaxy S20 Ultra!

The 2^nd telephoto lens on Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is a 12MP (1/2.56-inch sensor, a 50mm-equivalent lens with f/2 aperture, Dual-Pixel AF) This is purely to take some good portrait shots by zooming in optically 2 times rather than cropping in from the main sensor! This phone takes some good portrait shots with natural bokeh, good edge detection, natural skin tones and strikes a good balance between sharpness and face beautification!

The final sensor on Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is a 20MP Ultra-wide camera (1/2.8-inch sensor, a 12mm-equivalent lens with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF) with 128° field of view. The ultra-wide camera on this phone is pretty good too! It takes some good shots and the thing I like the most is that it keeps the color accuracy from the main sensor! The only thing I don’t like is the placement of the sensor! It’s the last sensor in the large camera bump which means most of the time due to its ultra-wide nature hands come in the frame and needs to be adjusted! It also supports 2.5cm minimum focus distance for macro shots!

Apart from this Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra also comes with Dual LED flash and Multispectral color temperature sensor. There are various cool modes to shoot but the interesting to me is 8K video on the main sensor as well 5X optical sensor and to use any 2 camera at the same time to take the Video! We have attached a few of the samples that are compared to the best phones in the market below!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Daylight:

The custom Built 48 MP main shooter is no marketing gimmick! It is twice as large as a 108MP camera sensor from S20 and it shows up! The daylight photos are exceptionally good! They have got very good color accuracy, contrast, details, and excellent dynamic range! Even better than Pixel and Samsung Flagships.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Night sight:

When it comes to low light again that large sensor helps! They take some of the best shots that android phones can take at night time! They are right up there with the Pixel Phones and this is because of the superior hardware and not software processing! Imagine this getting paired up with proper GCAM!! We could see the potential of this camera blowing pixel into the water!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Ultra-Wide:

This is the widest camera ( 128° field of view ) in any smartphone and can capture some dramatic shots! If we put side by side with Samsung S20 Ultra we can see that photos produced are brighter and have more details when zoomed in!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra 120X zoom:

Coming to zoom let’s look at the Crazy 120X zoom! Samsung uses a 48MP sensor that has 4 times optical zoom and 100X hybrid Zoom! Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra takes that same basic hardware and dials up to 5times Optical zoom and 120X Hybrid Zoom! But in real life, there is nothing much difference! on 30X zoom we found that Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra had higher brightness levels, well-exposed shadows, and slightly better details! For all sense, they are pretty much the same.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Portrait Shots:

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has a dedicated 2X optical sensor for portrait shots as well as for 2X zoom to keep the details consistent! Coming to portrait this phone takes some really good portrait shots! Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has got nice Bokeh and consistently good colors!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Video:

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra takes some really good videos at 8k resolution! The stabilization is good and is as good as it can get on any smartphone! Nothing crazy here But we really like some options given here like to use 2 lenses at once to capture Video!

Now we can see why the DXO mark gave it a score of 130 in its camera testing and rated as the best smartphone camera in the world till now! With proper software optimizations, we could see this smartphone going to become the best smartphone camera of 2020!

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with a 4500mah battery that supports 120W Mi Turbocharge that can take the battery from 0 to 41% in just 5 mins and fully charge the phone in 23 Minutes! To achieve these speeds Xiaomi uses a combination of 3 battery that is graphene-based Li-ion battery with a capacity equivalent to 4,500mAh and is totally safe and runs cooler thanks to first of its kind mass-produced graphene-based battery!

The Charger is also graphene-based to minimize the power lost in the conversion and transmit high power while keeping the charger cool to touch while charging, safer than a traditional charger, and relatively compact size.
